Wander off the beaten path with us, deep in the forest to the Yurt event space at Detach Primitive. It’s a gathering place for people of all backgrounds and interests to come together and share in the restorative power of heat and community.

Whether you're looking to escape the stresses of daily life, meet new people, or simply relax and rejuvenate, our Community Steam Sessions nurture physical, mental and social wellbeing.

What to Expect & How to Prepare:

Experience next-level relaxation with 90 minutes of self-guided community hot and cold cycles in our one-of-a-kind mobile wood burning sauna, the “Wildflower” and the beautiful pond at the Yurt event space at Detach Primitive.

Between rounds, enjoy a dip in the pond, swim out to the raft and make a splash off the diving board. Take in the peaceful forest setting, relaxing by the fire and unwind in the yurt lounge space. Changing areas, restrooms, and lounge spaces are all available for your comfort.

To help you make the most of your sauna experience, here’s what we recommend packing:

  • Water Bottle (please no glass) – Staying hydrated is key. We’ll have a refill station with fresh water available and electrolyte hydration drinks available for purchase.

  • Swimwear – For community sessions, swimwear is required.

  • Towels – One towel for drying off and another to sit on in the sauna.

  • Bathrobe – Optional, but perfect for lounging between rounds especially in colder weather.

  • Easy Slip-On/Off Shoes – Like sandals or slides, so you can move between sauna, plunge, and rest areas with ease.

  • Arrive Ready – To maximize your time in the heat, please arrive dressed for your session. Changing space is available if needed.

  • Arrive Early – Plan to be here at least 15 minutes before your start time so you can settle in and get oriented.

Sessions are held at the following times:

  • 6:00pm - 7:30pm ($32 per person)

  • 11:30am - 1:00pm & 4:00pm - 5:30pm (early bird: $15 per person)

Location:

Tucked deep in the forest with that “Up North Michigan” feel, yet only 20-minutes from Grand Rapids and 5-minutes from Downtown Rockford, you’ll find the stunning Yurt at the event space located on the property at Detach Primitive.

Detach is a four-season retreat and educational center nestled amongst 50 acres of forest in Rockford, Michigan.

Firewood Bundles

  • $10 per bundle

  • We provide 1-bundle of firewood per night of you rental. Each firewood bundle provides 2-3 hours of burn time. Plan accordingly and add additional firewood bundles to your reservation at checkout

Cold Plunge

  • $50 per cold plunge tank (2-available)

  • Perfect for refreshing dips, a cold plunge is the preferred method for rapid cooldowns after a relaxing sauna session. Complete with 50 feet of hose for easy filling, it's the perfect complement to your mobile sauna experience.

  • Enjoy a relaxing evening as you gather around to enjoy the fire between sauna rounds. This fire bowl is a great addition to your outdoor wellness oasis.

Lounge Chairs

  • $50, includes 6 chairs

  • Complete your outdoor oasis and provide you and your guests a place to relax between sauna sessions. This add-on includes six (6) beautiful acacia wood chairs that are both stylish and practical.

Additional Info

  • Free Delivery & Delivery Fees: Delivery within a 20-mile radius of Cannonsburg Ski Area is included in the rental price.

    Fee delivery within: Rockford, Grand Rapids, Ada, Lowell, Comstock Park, Sparta, Cedar Springs, Belding, Smyrna, Wyoming, Greenville, Gowen, Grandville, Alto, Saranac, Sand Lake, Marne, Kent City, Jenison, and Caledonia

    Beyond this radius delivery and setup is $2 per mile (based on one-way mileage). Please reach out to us before booking for a quote.

    Delivery & Setup Location Restrictions: The mobile sauna requires an authorized, flat, safe, and easily accessible location on private property for parking and operation, with the renter responsible for ensuring compliance with sauna operation, including the wood-burning stove.

    The sauna trailer has a small footprint (13’L x 8’W x 10’H) and will fit most driveways. Please ensure that the setup location is free from any overhead obstructions, such as low-hanging branches or wires, and combustible materials to guarantee a safe and enjoyable experience.

    Please note that adverse weather and/or road conditions may prevent the delivery. Especially so for steep driveways/locations. For inquiries or assistance regarding setup locations, feel free to contact us with photos in advance.

  • Damage Deposit: At the time of booking, a $500 hold will be placed on your credit card. This deposit serves as coverage for potential damages or equipment loss. Any unused portion will be released after assessment.

    Cleaning Fee: Howl at the Moon Sauna doesn't enforce a separate cleaning fee per rental. However, please note that an excessively unclean return may incur a $250 cleaning fee deducted from the Damage Deposit.

  • Payment: Full payment is due at booking.

    State Sales Tax: A 6% Michigan sales tax will be added to the total booking amount.

    Credit Card Processing Fees: A 2.9% credit card processing fee applies to all bookings.

    Service Fee: A 1% convenience fee is applied to all bookings, contributing to the processing costs associated with reservations.

  • Cancellation Policy: We understand that plans change for many reasons including those out of our control. Therefore, the following cancellation policy applies:

    • Full refund for cancellations made 14 or more days before the rental period begins.

    • 50% refund for cancellations made between 13 and 4 days before the rental period starts.

    • Cancellations within 3 days of the rental period start date are non-refundable, and any outstanding rental fees will be due.
